AXIOLOGY AND SPIRITUALITY

Presented by Scholar and Professor Rem B. Edwards, Ph.D.

Friday, August 20th, 2021

11 AM - 1 PM (EST)

2-Hour Zoom Seminar

This presentation will discuss how formal axiology can make sense of three significant stages of spiritual/ethical development that have been of great interest to religious thinkers for centuries--Worldliness, Dogmatism, and Saintliness.

Most users of the HVP or its derivatives work mainly with how personal developments in the Extrinsic, Systemic, and Intrinsic value and evaluational dimensions relate to job performance, but this discussion will expand their horizons to include spirituality and morality. The three character types are extreme cases of over-development in one value dimension and underdevelopment in the other two, explained with many historical and present day religious illustrations and applications. Similar individuals who are not quite so extreme will be inclined in these directions. The religious/ethical issues discussed should be of great interest also to those who do not use the HVP.
